Floating Turbidity Curtains

Turbidity Curtains and Silt Curtains are used for control

of silt and sediment water during construction or dredging

Federal and state regulations require that turbidity and sediment be controlled, and the Clean Water Act and the NPDES (National Pollution Discharge Elimination System) require that federal and state agencies enforce these laws. The most efficient method of compliance is through the use of floating turbidity screens or curtains. Turbidity Curtains, Turbidity Barriers or Silt Curtains as they are often called are floating barriers designed to control the silt and sediment in a body of water during remediation jobs, marine construction and dredging processes.
Water turbidity occurs as a result of the suspension of sediments and solids during dredging and filling works. These suspended solids may be carried by tidal or other currents to environmentally sensitive areas away from the construction areas. Turbidity Curtains are deployed for the purpose of confining water turbidity within construction areas.

SkimOIL offers two different types of turbidity and silt curtains: solid fabric skirt and filter screen skirt. Being able to provide custom turbidity and silt curtains to customer specifications creates a reliable method of controlling silt and sediment in the water. Turbidity curtains are used at pipeline crossing construction sites, marine construction and demolition sites, discharge locations and home construction sites and dredging operations.
